U.S. cable network Lifetime is to premiere the country music docuseries Chasing Nashville on October 22.
Produced by Superfine Films and Thinkfactory Media, the series was previously announced under the title Hillbetties and is about four teenage singers from Appalachia who are attempting to secure recording contracts in the country music capital.
Cameras follow the aspiring country stars as they go through vocal coaching, meet with talent scouts, such as Grammy-winning producer Keith Thomas and writer/producer Deanna Walker, and perform at industry showcases. Complicating matters are the teens’ cut-throat stage moms and dads.
The executive producers on the series are Superfine’s Steven Miller and Justin Green, and Thinkfactory’s Adam Reed, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif. Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy, Kimberly Chessler and Abigail Harvey are exec producing for the network.
Lifetime is not the only cable network with a country music reality series on its slate. Earlier this month A&E greenlit Crazy Hearts: Nashville, another series chronicling the lives of aspiring country stars trying to make it big in Nashville.
