The movie explores the singles scenes and the relationships of everyone around them. The movie stars Chris Marquette, Bryan Callen, Jesse Bradford, Reid Ewing and Tammin Sursok.
Classic TV Examiner caught up with actor Reid Ewing, who plays Hugh in the movie. The actor, who has a recurring role on ABC’s “Modern Family,” talked to us about the unorthodox way he got his role of in “10 Rules.” He also shared his rules for a happier life.
Check out the interview with Reid below:
Phyllis: Congratulations on the movie. We see a lot of you in the movie. Talk a little about your audition process? What was it like?
Reid Ewing: It’s so funny because I was naked for the most of the movie. I’m naked for most of it. So I figured I’d be one of the only people to go all the way, so to speak. So in the audition process, I just got naked. It’s ridiculous cause as soon as I started doing it, they were like”you don’t have to do that” and I was like “Yes I do.”
Phyllis: You’re a method actor…
Reid Ewing: (Laughs) It was actually a cheap trick so to speak, but it worked. Sometimes they do.
Phyllis: From working with the cast of “Modern Family” to working with the cast on this movie, how do you and the other actors prepare for your characters to have relationships with one another?
Reid Ewing: It’s not really one of those kinds of movies. Its so weird that you don’t even really have to really know the actors that well because what you’re doing is so absurd that its in a realm of its own.
Phyllis: What are your 10 Rules For a Happier Life?
Reid Ewing: I’ve got this down. These are self help answers. There are four things that I have: Vacation, Something that relaxes you, Time to do that thing and also some form of job that occupies the time. Those are the main things for a happier life.
